I am plugged into an unending source of delight and laughter because my 20-year-old daughter, who is extremely online, saves and shares anything off of tiktok and reddit that she thinks is funny.

The latest? Terrible recipe reviews on Reddit: Ididn'thaveeggs.

Anonymous writes: French toast. With tortilla. And Aquafaba. And cumin.

This aspiring chef absolutely butchered a french toast recipe by making something else entirely.

Here are some gems from their recipe review:

"I had no ... bread so I substituted tortillas."
"As I am vegan I couldn't use the eggs but the aquafaba from a can of garbanzo beans usually works..."
"It was so soggy and tasted like canned beans?"
"Not quite so sweetly spiced as I hoped for ... Accidentally added cumin ... before realizing it wasn't nutmeg."

And the absolute kicker. The part that made us both howl with tears of laughter.

"Overall great recipe, but it just wasn't as good as I expected it to be."

We both started scream laughing, "BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T FOLLOW THE RECIPE!!!! OMG, omg!!"

May we all have the hubris to do something completely wrong, even with instructions, then devote our time to crafting a righteous review this outrageous, delusional and funny.

😂

In all seriousness, though, with a little more self-awareness, may we all, on our creative, writing and healing journeys, cultivate enough of this kind of confidence to keep doing our thing, and find the humour in the times when we're pigheaded, ridiculous, and unwilling to listen.

😂

Keep going!

Collect the things that make you howl with laughter.

Enjoy your week!

xoxo,

Janelle

Not by myself but with my mom, my sister, three of her children (ages 8, 4 and 3) and...
